October 22, '07: How to SAFELY Forward E-mail messages
Do you wonder why you get viruses or junk mail? Do you hate it? Every time you forward an email there is information left over from the people who got the message before you, namely their email addresses and names.
As the messages get forwarded along, the list of addresses builds, and builds, and builds. Someone can take all of those addresses and sell them or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and he will make five cents for each hit. That's right, all of that inconvenience over a nickel! How do you stop it? Well, there are several easy steps.
October 22, '07: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has launched a revised version of its Medicare Drug Plan Finder Web site
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has launched a revised version of its Medicare Drug Plan Finder Web site, www.medicare.gov, which allows beneficiaries to sort plans offered in their communities by annual costs based on prescriptions, monthly premiums, and coverage levels in the "doughnut hole." The Web site also allows beneficiaries to view the information in one chart, the Palm Beach Post reports.
The Web site uses a five-star rating system to compare Medicare prescription drug plans based on access to care, quality of care, and customer satisfaction, according to Abby Block, director of the Center for Beneficiary Choice at CMS.
According to CMS officials, the revisions should address difficulties that some Medicare beneficiaries have had with navigation of the Web site.

Emergency Information for People with Disabilities
By John Cavanagh and Anne Malia
According to the National Organization on Disability, of the 54 million Americans with disabilities, 61% have not made plans to quickly and safely evacuate their homes, in the event of an emergency. Also, 46% of people with disabilities do not know whom to contact about emergency plans for their community. 53% percent say that they have not made plans to quickly and safely evacuate their home and 32% report that plans have not been made to evacuate them from their workplace in case of a disaster. These statistics illustrate the necessity of continuing to promote the importance of emergency preparedness for those with disabilities. According to the Center for an Accessible Society, too few disaster response officials are trained to deal effectively with people with disabilities, and too few disabled Americans have the knowledge that could help them save their own lives. The Center posts a webpage entitled Disaster Mitigation for Persons with Disabilities, taken from a report by The Annenberg Washington Program. It lists seven principles that should guide disaster relief efforts:

(Balance issues doesn't just affect people with MS)
When most people think about losing their balance, they immediately think of falling. And, yes, the consequences of falling for adults 65 and over are tremendous—13,700 deaths, 1.8 million visits to the emergency room, and $19 billion in medical costs annually due to hip fractures, head trauma, and more.
I'm sending you this information b/c I've verified it and it's true.......
the biggest lesson-- BLOCK YOUR NUMBER!!!
Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.
If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.
(important for your safety & privacy as well)
